Our communications firm has been growing & evolving for four decades, with the last 10 years being our most transformative. We started as Northwest Strategies—a small firm with a lobbying arm focused on political campaigns. We were successful, with a focus on doing good work & expansion.
Over time, we became a full-service agency, widening our offerings & portfolio to include Alaska Native Tribes & corporations, government, retail, telecommunications, tourism, hospitality and construction.
In 2008, we set out to move hearts & change minds. We deepened our focus on shifting social norms through behavior change marketing & cultural communications. Since then, we’ve endeavored to enhance the lives of Alaskans through education, awareness, access to information and influence.
Doing work for good has changed our course forever.
We’ve given voice to underrepresented & underserved audiences and we’re changing the narrative on what it means to be Indigenous, including our histories.
On a local level, with our support, Alaska finally passed a statewide smokefree workplace policy. We’ve reduced smoking prevalence among Alaska Native youth and broken records for calls to national & local tobacco quit lines. Our work has motivated kids and adults to be more active & to drink fewer sugary beverages.
We’ve made significant strides to reduce stigma around mental health & experienced other wins that have positively impacted Alaskans and those beyond.
Our impact is global.
We have the privilege to collaborate with clients to tell stories that advance brands and enhance lives. Working here is more than a job. As such, it requires a team that constantly aspires to be better and always strives for excellence. As Elders in training, we now authentically lean into our Indigeneity and honor our leaders through our new brand: Future Elder.
After 37 years, we’ve turned the page on Northwest Strategies & rebranded as Future Elder.
